Our Brand

Our logo is composed of the Odum tree and the road to Kukurantumi, each element symbolizing the foundational principles upon which Hawkhurst & Dua is built. The Odum tree, a revered symbol of strength and longevity, represents the firm’s unwavering foundation.
At the core of our logo, the road serves as a powerful reminder that, regardless of how far we progress, our connection to our roots remains steadfast. The road to Kukurantumi symbolises the extraordinary journey of Dr. Kwadwo Dua Opare, our founder’s father. His life exemplifies perseverance and determination, beginning with humble origins in the Eastern Region, where his mornings were spent working on the farm before undertaking arduous walks to school. His unwavering commitment to education led him to Prempeh College, and through academic distinction, he earned prestigious scholarships in the Netherlands and Canada. His illustrious career took him to the United Nations, where he served in conflict zones in Southern Sudan, ultimately receiving Sudan’s highest honor for a foreign national, The Order of the Two Niles.

Through immense sacrifice and dedication, he invested in his daughter, our founder's future, enabling her to attend boarding school in Hawkhurst, a village in Kent—an act that would later inspire the name Hawkhurst & Dua.
In Twi, “Dua” translates to “tree,” signifying growth, deep roots, and resilience. Similarly, “Hurst,” meaning “wood,” reinforces the themes of nature, strength, and longevity. Together, Hawkhurst & Dua reflects our dedication to sustainability, African heritage, and a vision of strength, growth, and enduring impact.
